Deflandrea scitula
Deflandrea scitula He Chengquan, 1991
Holotype: He Chengquan, 1991, pl.30, fig.13
Age: Late Eocene
Description from He Chengquan, 1991, translated by Suning Hou, 07-01-2019
Description: cyst dorsal-ventral flattened, transverse elongation, length and width are equal, the body contour is typical oval-shaped, divided by cingulums Into 2 Nearly large parts. Epicyst is bell-shaped, with an apical horn, conica, length 14μm, the top blunt.Hypocyst with two proximal equal antapical horns, conical or triangular, 15 μm long, distal slightly pointed, about 60 μm away from each other, apparently divergent, base proximal, as if they are not in the same plane , So there is a partial overlap between the two at the base. The waist is strongly convex and smooth, but lacked lateral convex. Cingulum is at the equatorial position, clear, ring-shaped, flat but not concave on the outline of the cyst, about 7.5μm wide and with edges marked by fine ridges. The sulcus is clear, trapezoidal, wide, limited to the lower cyst. Outer wall film, transparent, smooth surface. The inner body is oval, width larger than length, its wall is thicker than the outer wall, the surface has dense fine granulates; It is completely separated from the outer wall, the surrounding outer cavity is seam. Archeopyle is intercalary, clear, the outline is horizontal and oval, its length about 20μm, width 44μm. The operculum is clearly separated, preserved in situ. Cyst length 95μm, width 92. 5μm, inner body length 67 .5μm, width 85μm.
Comparison: The new species is similar to Deflandrea sibirica (Vozzhennikova) in terms of cyst shape and size, but the former has a short apical horn, the two horns may not be in the same plane, the sulcus is flat but not concave, and the body is typically laterally elongated and lack of lateral convex, the latter is distinctly pentagonal, with the two antapical horns being far apart at the base, the length and width of archeopyle may be equal. Because of the different archeopyle shape, so the latter was moved into Ceratiopsis.
Location and stratigraphy: Wuqia County Basebulak; Basebulak fm member2, 3 .
