Deflandrea superposita
Deflandrea superposita He Chengquan, 1991
This species was not validly published in Xu Jinli, 1987.
Holotype: He Chengquan, 1991, pl.34, fig.17
Age: Middle-Late Eocene
Description from He Chengquan, 1991, translated by Suning Hou, 07-01-2019
Description: The cyst is dorsal-ventral flattened, outline nearly pentagonal, length larger than width, the body contour is nearly circular.Epicyst slightly larger than hypocyst, triangular, margin nearly flat or slightly concave, with an apical horn, typically triangular, length 12.5-27μm, without base constricted, top sharp ot blunt. Lower cyst is nearly inverted trapezoid, the sides are relatively straight, the bottom is concave to anobtuse angle, with two nearly equal large antapical horn, triangle, length 17.5-19μm, distally far from each other (32-42.5μm) , But its base is rather wide and partially overlaps each other, indicating that the two horns are not in the same plane. Waist smooth, without lateral convex. The cingulum is slightly deviated to the lower cyst, very shallow, almost no concave at thesides of the cyst, annular, wide 7 – 7.5μm, the edge is marked by low ridges. The sulcus Can be seen or blurred. The outer surface of the fine granular or nearly Wei slippery, on the holotype apical horn, on the vertical distribution of particles, and some of the corroded specimens at the cyst edge with secondary broken net wrinkles. The inner body is round-oval, dense and granular or coarse in appearance. It is usually in contact with the outer wall on the lateral side of the upper cyst, while it is separated by a narrow outer cavity on the lateral side of the lower cyst. The archeopyle intercalary, clear outline, nearly hexagonal, width greater than length. Operculum completely separated, preserved in situ. Cyst length 97.5-115μm, width 67.5-90 μm, inner body length 62.5-85μm, width 62.5-77. 5μm (measured 3), Holotype length 105μm, width 85μm, inner body length 72.5μm, width 77 .5μm, apical horn length 17μm, antapical horn length 17.μm, cingulum width 7.5μ m.
Comparison: This species is similar to Deflandrea amabilis, but the former’s epicyst is conical, side flat to slightly concave, apical horn triangle, the base does not shrink, the two horns are not in the same plane, the base is quite wide and partly overlap each other , cingulum shallow and outer wall surface of the fine-granular; This species differs to D. scitula in that the cyst length is larger than width, the body is round but not oval-shaped and near the two antapical horns are close etc .
Location and stratigraphy: Wuqia County Basebulak; Wulagen group and Basebulak fm member two and three.
