Fibrocysta baculata

Fibrocysta baculata He Chengquan, 1991

Holotype: He Chengquan, 1991, pl.21, fig.1
Age: Paleocene

Description from He Chengquan, 1991, translated by Suning Hou, 07-01-2019
Description: Body ellipse or spindle-shaped, upper and lower cyst is nearly equal to the upper cyst is slightly larger. There is a clear apical antapical horn. Upper cyst arched, apical horn conical, 5 -10μm long, the base about 7 μm wide; Top blunt, sometimes truncated or with thickened outer wall. Lower cyst semicircular, antapical horn triangular, about 10μm long, the base about 7.5μm wide. Cyst wall thickness about 1 μm, two outer layer thickness are nearly equal; There are sparse thin rod-like processes on the outer layer, not tabular shape, solid, straight or curved, base slightly larger, ends simple or slightly expanded; This length varies, mainly long, the longest up to 10μm; The outer wall surface between the processes is nearly smooth-slightly rough. There are wrinkles and corrosions at the equator (except on both sides), which may be related to the cingulum. Archeopyle precingular, indicated by the main crack around the third precingular plate. Operculum preserved in situ. Body length (not including horn) 70-75μm, width 45-60μm (measured 2); The body length of holotype is 76μm, width 60μm, apical horn length 5μm, antapical horn length about 10μm.
Comparison: This species differs from other species in the genus in the thin rod like processes and never bifurcated ends. The processes of Fibrocysta licia (Jain et al., 197 5) is filiform, long, apical and antapical horn are not as long, thus different from the new species.
Location and stratigraphy: Wuqia County Basebulak; Qimugen fm, lower member.
