Gonyaulacysta cassidata (Eisenack and Cookson, 1960) Cookson and Eisenack, 1962
Originally Gonyaulax helicoidea ssp. cassidata, subsequently Gonyaulax cassidata, thirdly (and now) Gonyaulacysta cassidata.
Cookson and Eisenack, 1962, raised this taxon to the species rank.

Locus typicus: Oodnadatta Bore, S Australia
Stratum typicum: Aptian-Cenomanian

Diagnosis: Apex more prominent than in G. helicoidea s.s., dome-shaped, narrowing abruptly to a bluntly pointed horn; antapical region with a projection formed by the ledges and supported by thin spines deriving from the corners of the antapical plate 1"""".
Dimensions: Type 83 Ám long, 52 Ám broad. Range 71-95 Ám long, 47- 57 Ám broad.

Comments: As a rule, Rumanian specimens seem to have smaller dimensions than those of the Australian holotype. In some specimens the tubercules are either lacking or are replaced by numerous fine, uniformly scattered grains.
Occurrence: Aptian-Cenomanian, Australia; upper Gault, England; Albian, Moesic Platform, Rumania.
