Originally Galea (generic name illegitimate), subsequently Baltisphaeridium (Appendix A), thirdly Chiropteridium, fourthly Hystrichosphaeridium. Questionable assignment: Eisenack and Kjellström (1975b, p.225).
Taxonomic senior synonym: Xanthidium (as Spiniferites) ramosum, according to Sarjeant (1983, p.91-92). N.I.A.
Age: Mid Miocene.
