Kenleyia conspicua

Kenleyia conspicua He Chengquan, 1991

Holotype: He Chengquan, 1991, pl.12, fig.2
Age: Early Eocene

Description from He Chengquan, 1991, translated by Suning Hou, 07-01-2019
Description: Body outline oval, the shape and size of the upper and lower cysts are similar, with a distinct apical antapical horn. Apical horn conical or cylindrical, 22-25μm long, the base width 10-20μm; Antapical horn nearly cylindrical, 12.5-17.5μm long, width 7.5μm, distally smooth; There is corrode-like hole ring on the distal pole of the apical antapical horn, especially obvious on the antapical horn. The two sides close to the antapical horn may have strong convex, forming a penholder shape or trident structure together with the antapical horn; There seems to be similar convexes on the sides of the apical horn but weak and unobvious. Cingulum equatorial position, wide, annular, wide 7.5-10μm. The wall of the cyst is relatively thin, its edge is compressed into a cord-like shape, surface rough. The main ornamentation is dense granular- short wrinkles (they form a fine reticulate pattern), and some longitudinal ridges (septa), there are some short conical spikes or fine processes on the ridges, such ridges are likely to be distributed along the sutrures. There are two ridges on the ventral surface of the lower cyst, spaced about 7 μm apart from each other, which may represent the sulcus. Archeopyle big, maybe combined type, A+P type, usually located on the side of the cyst. Operculum shedding. Cyst length 100-110μm, width 67-77μm (measured 3); Holotype length 110μm, width 67μm, apical horn length 22.5μm, antapical horn length 17.5μm.
Comparison: This species differs from Kenleyia leptocerata distinctively in strong apical antapical horns, the surface with short spine-shape longitudinal ridges and very big archeopyle (may be combined rather than precingular type) .
Location and stratigraphy: Wuqia County, Basebulak; Qimugen fm upper member.
