Paucisphaeridium hexagonum

Paucisphaeridium hexagonum He Chengquan, 1991

Holotype: He Chengquan, 1991, pl.15, fig.11
Age: Paleocene

Description from He Chengquan, 1991, translated by Suning Hou, 07-01-2019
Description:
Wall: Due to the effect of the processes, the outer surface of the outer wall is hexagonal from polar view, sides straight, slightly resembling the outline of the Savitrinia miocenica Nagy, surface smooth. The inner wall is thicker, forming a circular inner body, equivalent to the inscribed circle of the hexagonal outer wall. Its surface is weakly granular.
Processes: formed by the outer wall, trapezoidal, hollow, very short. The base width varies, and some are very wide (about 24μm). Generally, the bases of adjacent processes are connected and placed in a straight line or on the same plane. There are several short rod-shaped small branches distally (about 3μm long ). Processes intratabular, 6 on the outline, in total about 10 are visible, detailed tabulation can not be determined. Body (polar view) diameter 2.5μm, inner body diameter 55μm. The total length of the process about 8 μm.

Affinities/Comparison:
This species differs from other species in the genus in a large individual, trapezoid processes rather than sub-pyramidal( narrow in middle, wide in ends)
Location and stratigraphy: Wucha County Basebulak; Qimugen group.
