Phelodinium longicorne

Phelodinium longicorne He Chengquan, 1991, p.69, pl.2, figs.28–29. Holotype: He Chengquan, 1991, pl.2, fig.29. Age: Paleocene.

Description from He Chengquan, 1991, translated by Suning Hou, 07-01-2019
Description The cyst is dorsal ventral flattened, outline elongated peridiniacean, apical and antapical horns are quite long, awl or braid-shape, straight or curved. Upper and lower cyst are nearly the same size or the lower cyst is slightly larger. Upper cyst inverted funnel shape, side concave, apical horn length 18-22μm, top blunt; Lower cyst inverted trapezoidal, side concave, the bottom edge nearly straight or slightly concave, two antapical horns are nearly the same size and straddle backwards, blunt end, length 22 -32 μm. The cingulum is shallow and flat with a ring shape and a width of 5μm, equatorial position, the edge is decorated by fine ridges; ridges are high, show a short spine shape on the contour line. Sulcus fuzzy, limited to the lower cyst. No paratabulation. The cyst wall delamination is not clear, surface (including horns) has sparse particles - nearly smooth and with many longitudinal ridges; Ridges are obvious or weak, particles are distributed along the ridge. The existence of inner body is not yet certain. Archeopyle unknown. Cyst length 75-95μm, width 35-40μm, (measured 3); Holotype length 95μm, width 40μm, the apical horn length 22μm, antapical horns length 32μm, cingulum width 5μm.
Discussion: The archeopyle of this type of specimens is unknown, only according to its morphological characteristics, it is classified in this genus. It is somewhat similar to the type species in this genus, but the latter its upper cyst is a right triangle with smooth surface, its waist clearly convex and clear archeopyle.
Location and stratigraphy: Ulugqat County Basebulak, Qimugen fm lower member.
