Phelodinium spinocapitatum
Phelodinium spinocapitatum He Chengquan, 1991, p.70, pl.2, figs.30–31. Holotype: He Chengquan, 1991, pl.2, fig.30. Age: Paleocene.
Description from He Chengquan, 1991, translated by Suning Hou, 07-01-2019
Description: The cyst is dorsal ventral flattened, outline slightly concave pentagonal . The sides of the waist are strongly plumped outward, The cyst length is smaller than width and has 3 long horns. The upper and lower cyst are equal in size.. Upper cyst funnel-shaped, apical horn braid-shaped, sometimes broken, length 47.5μm, with many short rod-shaped processes, processes long 1. 5-2. 5μm; Lower cyst pommel horse shape, 2 antapical horns obviously diverge, nearly equal in length, awl shape, distally very thin and solid, tip sharp, 33-35μm long. Cingulum obvious, flat and slightly concave on the side of the cyst, annular, width 6-7.5μm, equatorial position, the edge is marked by the ridge. Sulcus is not shown. lacking paratabulation. Cyst stratification is not clear, the surface (excluding apical horn) sparse granular, the waist may have a few rod-shaped processes. The inner body may only exist at the horns. Archeopyle is not obvious, may be intercalary type I, its the rear is close to the cingulum, outline truncated triangle, forward-fining. Operculum preserved in situ. Total cyst length 130μm, width 57.5-65μm, body length 52-57μm, width 57. 5-65μm (measured 2); Holotype length 130μm, width 57.5μm, body length 52μ.m, width 57.5μm, apical horn length 47 .5μm, antapical hornsl length 35μm, waist width 6μm.
Location and stratigraphy: Ulugqat County Basebulak; Qimugen fm lower member.
