Scriniodinium bucinatum ssp. bucinatum
Scriniodinium bucinatum ssp. bucinatum
Autonym.
Translation Brenner 1988: LPP
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brenner 1988, p. 73, Pl.12, fig.1
Holotype: Brenner 1988, PL.12, fig.1, prep. N7 III
Stratum typicum: Upper Jurassic, lowe Malm gamma, platynota Zone (lower Kimmeridgian)
Locus typicus: Hoernlebruch near Neuffen, Germany
Occurrence: rare in Malm beta and Malm gamma.
Diagnosis: typical subspecies of Scriniodinium bucinatum, in which no or just a few intrapericoelar pillars and ledges are present.
Remarks: The earliest specimens of Scriniodinium bucinatum bucinatum could be demonstrated from the lower Malm beta. They possess no ledges or pillars, the siphons are only present at the antapical pole and the paratabulation is generally but poorly indicated. Forms from the Malm gamma, however, possess a well recognizeable paratabulation, and occasional pillars and ledges occur in the pericoel of the epicyst.
