Scriniodinium bucinatum ssp. labyrinthum
Scriniodinium bucinatum ssp. Iabyrinthum Brenner, 1988
Translation Brenner 1988: LPP
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brenner, 1988, p. 74, Pl.12, fig.2
Holotype: Brenner 1988, Pl.12, fig.2, prep. N7 II
Stratum typicum: Upper Jurassic, lower Malm gamma, platynota Zone (lower Kimmeridgian).
Locus typicus: Hörnlebruch near Neuffen, Germany
Diagnosis: A subspecies of Scriniodinium bucinatum in which the intrapericoelar ledges are locally clusterd and form a partial reticulum.
Dimensions of holotype: length 63 µm, width 60 µm, endocyst diameter 45 µm.
Remarks: This subspecies occurs for the first time in the lower Malm gamma. It differs from Scriniodinium bucinatum bucinatum in the locally clustered occurrence of intrapericoelar ledges. These form partial reticula, which are partially interconnected by single ledges, thus giving the cyst-wall ornamentation a labyrinth-like appearance.
