Sentusidinium parvum
Sentusidinium parvum Kunz, 1990
Taxonomic senior synonym: Sentusidinium (now Barbatacysta) creberbarbatum, according to Courtinat in Fauconnier and Masure (2004, p.83–84).
Holotype: Kunz, 1990, pl.8, figs.14a-c, text-fig.11
Paratype: Kunz, 1990
Locus typicus: Quarry Oker, TK 4029 Vienenburg, NW Germany
Stratum typicum: Oxfordian
Translation Kunz, 1990: LPP
Original description: Kunz, 1990, p.33
Proximate, ovoidal to subsphaerical Cyst. Archaeopyle apical, operculum secate. On some specimens accessory archeopyle sutures developed. 6 precingular areae and the sulcal notch are visible. Further hints on the sulcus and the cingulum are missing. Wall composed of pedium and luxuria. The numerous (c.300), in length and breadth varying processes are hollow, distally closed and capitate. Distribution nonareate to intraareate. Processes may stand in rows parallel to the accessory archaeopyle sutures. Cyst surface psilate.
Dimensions: Holotype: length (apical part missing) 31 µm, breadth 32 µm, processes 2.5-4 µm. Further specimens: 10: length (apical part missing) 29-32 µm (31 µm average), breadth 32-36 µm (34 µm average), processes 2.5-4 µm.
Affinities:
Kunz, 1990, p.34: The most similar species S. erythrocomum Erkmann and Sarjeant, 1980 differs in the lower number of processes (150-200), less obious accessory archaeopyle sutures and a chagrinate cyst surface. S. creberbarbatum Erkmann and Sarjeant, 1980 is larger, elongate ovoidal, the processes are distally acuminate to capitate, sometimes bifurcate and has a granulate to punctate surface.
