Spiniferites ramosus subsp. brevirugosus He Chengquan, 1991, p.153, pl.22, fig.5.

Holotype: He Chengquan, 1991, pl.22, fig.5.
Age: Paleocene.

Description from He Chengquan, 1991, translated by Suning Hou, 07-01-2019
Description: The body is nearly circular, the wall is thin, the two layers are nearly the same thickness, the inner wall is dense and smooth, the surface of the outer wall is densely covered with short wrinkles and a little separated particles; Wrinkles may be formed by the connections of the particles, the middle of the wrinkle is slightly lower than the particles and fine; The particles are coarse and high, the diameter and height are greater than 0.5μm, the outline is significant fine dentate. There are two types of processes, the gonal proceses are larger, angular, with 3 branches at the end (5-5.5μm long, with simple ends or bifurcated), there are more processes at the cingulum, thinner; Occasionally there are small processes on the suture with a short bifurcated end. The bases of the processes are connected with a slit-shaped septa forming a clear contour of the plate. The cingulum plate is apparently long hexagon. The archeopyle precingular, indicated by the main archeopyle crack around the third precingular plate. Operculum preserved in situ. Body diameter 50μm, the process length 5-15μm.
Comparison: This subspecies differs form Spiniferites ramosus subsp. granomembranaceus and S. ramosus subsp. reticulatus in that the surface is densely covered with short wrinkles and particles, the silt-shaped septa is low. It is also distinguished from S. scabrosus by its smooth surface, Although the latter’s surface is finely wrinkled, the surface of the process is rough or small dentate.
Location and stratigraphy: Wuqia County Basebulak; Qimugen fm lower part of the lower member.
