Tenua suturispinosa
From Fensome et al., 2019:
Tenua suturispinosa (He Chengquan, 1991, p.173, pl.10, figs.1–3) Lentin and Williams, 1993, p.640.
Holotype: He Chengquan, 1991, pl.10, fig.1. Originally Cerbia, subsequently (and now) Tenua Eisenack.
Taxonomic senior synonym: Cerbia? (al. Tenua) formosa, according to Fensome et al. (2019a, p.35).
Age: Middle Eocene.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Description from He Chengquan, 1991, translated by Suning Hou, 07-01-2019
Description: Cyst round pentagonal (dorsal ventral surface) or nearly elliptic (lateral), length larger than width or nearly equal. There is a low apical horn, antapex wide, lack of antapical horns. Wall thickness 0.5-1 μm. The surface has particles and short processes. Process rod-spiny, 1.5- 8 μm long, most long, slightly tapering distally, ends simple or occasionally bifurcated. Processes sutural, roughly distributed along the suture. There is no processes at the center of the plates; Based on the archeopyle, there are 4 apical plates and 6 precingular plates, thus the inferred tabulation is 4', 6", 5-6"’, ?p, 1’’’’. The cingulum is obscurely indicated by the line of processes. It lacks the obvious sulcus. The archeopyle is significant, apical, (tA), which is formed by the movement of the apex. The edge is Z-shaped. Operculum preserved in-situ. Cyst length (Excluding processes) 87.5 μm width 72.5-87.5 μm (measured 3); Holotype cyst length and width are 87.5μm, process length 2-7.5 μm.
Location and stratigraphy: Wuqia County, Basebulak; Wulagen fm.
