Wetzeliella tianshanensis
Wetzeliella ?tianshanensis He Chengquan, 1991, p.102, pl.40, fig.6; pl.63, figs.1–4.
Holotype: He Chengquan, 1991, pl.40, fig.6.
Questionable assignment: Williams et al. (2015, p.318).
Age: middle Eocene.
Description from He Chengquan, 1991, translated by Suning Hou, 07-01-2019
Description: The outline is pentagon, the outline of the body is nearly circular or oval. The epicyst is triangle, the apical horn is more or less displayed. The hypocyst is inverted trapezoid, bottom concave or flat, with two nearly equal antpical horns, triangular, its size varies, the end is blunt, about 21-30μm far to each other. Waist convex, but the lateral horns are occasionally displayed or lacking. No sulcus or cingulum. The outer wall has many fine pprocesses, solid, straight or curved, length variable, the base is slightly wider, most of the ends are slightly expanded or bifurcate, minor are simple. The outer wall surface between the processes is smooth. The inner body contour is circle or oval, the surface was clearly granular; Except at the apical and antapical horns, it is attached to the outer wall or slightly separated from each other, the lateral outer vavity was narrow slit. Archeopyle intercalary, I / I type, contour trapezoid, length larger than width. The operculum is completely separated, falls off or in situ preserved. Cyst length (excluding processes) 81-91μm, width 70-87μm, processes length 2-14μm (measured 5); Holotype is longer than 85μm, width 70μm, inner body length 73μm, width 68μm, antapical horn length 7μm, processes length 2-7.5μm.
Compariso: The difference between the new species and Wetzeliella ovalis is that the former is almost cornucavate, except at the apical antapical horns, the inner body and the outer wall are close to each other, the end of processes is generally slightly bifurcate or slightly enlarged; The latter cyst is circumcavate, the inner body and the outer wall are significantly separated, the processes ends are simple. It is not the same as W. xinjiangensis with its body nearly circular rather than elongated.
