Wetzeliella xinjiangensis He Chengquan, 1991
Holotype: He Chengquan, 1991, pl.43, fig.3
Age: Middle Eocene

Description from He Chengquan, 1991, translated by Suning Hou, 07-01-2019
Description: The outline is elongated Peridinoid. Upper cyst triangular, with a distinct apical horn, length 7-10μm, top sharp. The lower cyst is inverted trapezoid, with two antapical horns far apart, nearly equal, 5-10μm long, end pointed. The waist is smoothly convex on both sides, but the lateral horns are absent. The outer wall has sparse thin processes, solid, curved or straight, varying in length, 2-12.5μm, generally 5-7.5μm, basally wide, distally tapering, ends are simple or slightly enlarged, not connected, occasionally 2 or 3 processes merged basally; Processes are not tabulated. Outer wall is film, the surface is smooth or nearly granular; The outer wall is very weak, only completely retained on a small number of specimens. The inner body is obviously elongated, round rhombus shape, the wall is thicker than the outer wall (about 1μm), the surface is dense granular; Except at the apical and antapical horns, it is attached or very close to the outer wall, if the lateral external cavity is developped, it is only a narrow slit. No sulcus or cingulum is displayed. Archeopyle intercalary, the outline isa round trapezoid or round square, generally length larger than width. The operculum is off, in situ preserved or adhered on the archeopyle edge. Cyst length (including processes) 95-116μm, width 72.5-87.5μm, body length 73-97μm, width 67.5-80μm (measured 9); Holotype length 116μm, width 87μm, inner body length 91μm, width 80μm, apical horn length 10 μm, antapical horn length 7.5-10μm, processes length 6-7.5μm.
Comparison: This new species is quite similar to Wetzeliella ovalis, both lack lateral horns, but the former is almost cornucavate and the inner body is elongated rhombus, lateral external absent of or narrow slit-like, the latter cyst is circumcavate, lateral external cavity is significant, the inner body is nearly circular, so they are easy to distinguish.
Location and stratigraphy: Wucha County Basebulak z Wulagen group.
