Spiniferites ramosus ssp. cingulatus

Spiniferites ramosus ssp. cingulatus He Chengquan, 1991

Holotype: He Chengquan, 1991, pl.22, fig.7
Age: Paleocene

Description from He Chengquan, 1991, translated by Suning Hou, 07-01-2019
Description: Body ellipse. Thin wall, the surface is smooth. There are gonal or sutural slender processes, solid or individually base slightly wider and hollow, distally bifurcated or trifurcated; The branches up to 6 μm, the ends simple-slightly expanded or micro bifurcated; The gonal processes on the holotype seem to be mainly bifurcated. Adjacent gonal processes are connected by a smooth ridge, the ridge is low or only visible at the base of the process. Plates and cingulum are clear; Cingulum equator position, width 6μm, spiral, both ends are obviously staggered on the ventral side. The archeopyle precingular, formed by the loss of the third precingular plate. The body length 45-57μm, width 37.5-47μm, processn length 15-17μm (measured 2); Holotype length 45μm, width 37.5μm, the process up to 17μm .
Comparison: This subspecies is quite similar in appearance to Spiniferites ramosus subsp. gracilis, but the processes on the latter’s holotype are longer, distally trifurcated, the coronal ridge is not so high, but often extends along the process to 3 branches, cingulum blurry; The process of the former is shorter, coronal ridge is lower and never extends towards the top of the process; It is different from S. ramosus subsp. granosus in the smooth surface.
Location and stratigraphy: Uygur County Bashibulac s Zimgen group at the bottom of the lower member.
