Batiacasphaera sp. of Schioler et al. 1997

Tax. sr. synonym of Sentusidinium Sarjeant and Stover, 1978, according to Dörhöfer and Davies, 1980. Lentin and Williams, 1987, retained Sentusidinium as a separate genus.

Description:
Small subspherical to ovoidal autocyst. The cyst is covered by numerous short and closely spaced flexible atabulate processes (length 1-3 ,um). An apically positioned archeopyle was observed in a few specimens.

Dimensions (in µm; 9 specimens measured):
length (without operculum), 21 (26) 31; width, 19 (22) 27.

Discussion:
Due to the uncertain archeopyle type, it is with some doubt we assign the taxon to Batiacasphaera.
