Apteodinium minus
From Fensome et al., 2019:
Apteodinium minor He Chengquan, 1991, p.112, pl.4, figs.7–10. Holotype: He Chengquan, 1991, pl.4, fig.10. Age: Late
Eocene.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Original description: [He Chengquan, 1991]: (translated by Suning Hou, 07-01-2019):
Description:
The cyst is small, nearly oval outline, length larger than width or nearly equal to each other. The upper cyst is generally bell-shaped, with a short apical horn, papillary, its base and the cyst are not connected; The lower cyst is semicircular, lack of antapical horn.
The cingulum is at equatorial position, usually clear, ring, 5-7μm wide, the edge is marked by fine ridges.
The sulcus has not been discovered.
The cyst is thin, non-laminated or the inner and outer layers are only visible at the base of the apical horn, with a finely grained surface and a nearly smooth contour.
The archeopyle is not clear.
Dimensions:
Cyst length 40-45μm, width 25-45μm (measured 4); Holotype length 40μm, width 25μm.
Affinities/Comparison:
This species is similar in appearance to Apteodinium emslandense (Gerlach), but the former is smaller in cyst, thinner in wall and cingulum loop rather than spiral.
