Bacisphaeridium baciferum
Bacisphaeridium baciferum, Eisenack, 1934; 1962.
Originally Bion, subsequently Hystrichosphaeridium, thirdly (and now) Bacisphaeridium; see also Baltisphaeridium (an acritarch genus; combination not validly published) and Veryhachium (an acritarch genus; combination not validly published). Although Cramer and Diez, 1979, used the combination Baltisphaeridium baciferum. They did not formally effect the transfer of this species to Baltisphaeridium. Elsewhere in the same publication (their p.68), they appeared to support the retention of the species in Bacisphaeridium, of which it is the type.
Holotype: Eisenack, 1934, pl.4, fig.20; lost, according to Eisenack, 1962.
Neotype: Eisenack, 1962, pl.44, fig.3; designated by Eisenack, 1962.
Age: Late Ordovician
