Now Pterodinium. Originally Cymatiosphaera, subsequently Hystrichosphaera, thirdly Spiniferites, fourthly Spiniferites?, fifthly (and now) Pterodinium.
Tax. sr. synonym of Spiniferites? pterotus (Cookson and Eisenack, 1958) Sarjeant, 1970, according to Below, 1981 and hence a tax. sr. synonym of Hystrichosphaera crassimurata Davey and Williams, 1966, by implication, according to Kjellstr÷m, 1973, who considered Hystrichosphaera crassimurata to be a tax. jr. synonym of
Spiniferites? pterotus.

Cymatiosphaera cingulata n. g. n. sp.
Plate IV Fig. 10.
? Side view of form a) (cf. apical and girdle views in peridinae). Diagnosis: Envelope rounded-oval to polyhedral in outline. Few light, narrow marginal meshes around the mostly darker frame of the central body. Projected along the short axis, a girdle-like gap or an elongated field appears, similar to the transverse groove in peridinae. - In general, the peridinae-like habit is most striking in this form; compare the present fossil especially with my Peridinium illustrans n. g. n. sp. (Vol. LXXVII, p. 167; Plate II Fig. 15), but also with certain spiny envelopes (e.g., Plate V Fig. 14). Color darker and lighter brown.
Dimensions approximately 50 μ: 42 μ: ? 50 μm.
Relatively rarely observed (estimated at 5 specimens); first time found as a fossil? Plate IV, Fig. 10 from Preparation 133 of a glacial erratic flint.

? Seitenansicht von Form a) (vgl. Apikal- und Gürtelansicht bei Peridineen). Diagnose: Hülle rundoval bis polyedrisch im Umriß. Wenige helle, schmale Randmaschen um den meist dunkleren Rahmen des Mittelkörpers. In die Richtung der kurzen Achse projiziert, erscheint eine gürtelförmige Lücke oder ein langgestrecktes Feld, ähnlich der Querfurche bei Peridineen. - Überhaupt fällt bei dieser Form der peridineenhafte Habitus am meisten auf; man vergleiche das vorliegende Fossil insbesondere mit meinem Peridinium illustrans n. g. n. sp. (Bd. LXXVII, S. 167; Taf. II Fig. 15), doch auch mit gewissen Stachelhüllen (z. B. Taf. V Fig. 14). Farbe dunkler und heller braun.
Maße etwa 50 μ: 42 μ: ? 50 μ.
Verhältnismäßig selten beobachtet (schätzungsweise 5 Exemplare); zum erstenmal fossil gefunden? Taf. IV Fig. 10 aus Präp. 133 eines Geschiebefeuersteins.
