Originally Hystrichosphaeridium, subsequently Baltisphaeridium (Acritarch), thirdly Multiplicisphaeridium (Acritarch), fourthly (and now) Hoegklintia. Le Hérissé (1989, p.147) also proposed this combination.
Holotype: Eisenack, 1938a, pl.4, fig.3, lost according to Eisenack (1959, p.200).
Neotype: Eisenack, 1959, pl.16, fig.11, designated by Eisenack (1959, p.200).
Age: Ordovician (erratic).
