Meiourogonyaulax stoveri
From Fensome et al., 2019:
Meiourogonyaulax stoveri Millioud, 1969, p.429, pl.3, figs.1–3. Holotype: Millioud, 1969, pl.3, figs.1–2. Originally (and now)
Meiourogonyaulax, subsequently Lithodinia. This species is retained in Meiourogonyaulax following the retention of the genus by Riding and Helby (2001d, p.81,83). Backhouse (1988, p.95) considered Gonyaulax (as and now Meiourogonyaulax) bulloidea to be the possible taxonomic senior synonym of this species. Age: early Hauterivian– early Aptian.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Locus typicus: Angles, SE-France
Stratum typicum: Hauterivian-Aptian
Original description: Millioud 1969, p. 429.
A Meiourogonyaulax having an ellipsoidal, somewhat subangular outline; lacking apex (apical archaeopyle) in most specimens seen. Tabulation 4', 0a, 6'', probably 6c, 5''', 1p, 1''''. Crests vacuolar with smooth distal ledges, generally low, but higher along the sides of the antapical plate. Wall vacuolar, relatively thick.
Dimensions: Holotype: overall legth 78 µm, breadth 72 µm, width of cingulum 5 µm. In other specimens the length varies from 75 to 84 µm, the breadth from 64 to 82 µm. Comments: This form is well characterized by its apical archaeopyle, its broadly oval shape, the absence of an apical horn, the low smooth crests and the thick vacuolar wall. The cingulum is strongly helicoidal, its extremities being displaced more than 2 girdle widths.
