Visbysphaera meson [Eisenack, 1955 nom. subst. pro Hystrichosphaeridium
intermedium Eisenack, 1954 non Hystrichosphaeridium intermedium (O. Wetzel, 1933) Deflandre, 1937] Lister, 1970
Originally Hystrichosphaeridium intermedium (name illegitimate), subsequently Hystrichosphaeridium meson, thirdly Baltisphaeridium meson (an acritarch species), fourthly (and now) Visbysphaera meson, fifthly Multiplicisphaeridium meson (an acritarch species).
Tax. sr. synonym of the acritarch species Multiplicisphaeridium micropilare Cramer, 1970 ex Eisenack et al., 1973 according to Ye Xiaorong, 1984. The name
Hystrichosphaeridium meson is attributable to Eisenack, 1955, not to Eisenack, 1954 as was indicated in Eisenack et al., 1973. Priewalder, 1987 retained this species in Visbysphaera.
