Spiniferites ramosus var. granomembranaceus

Spiniferites ramosus var. granomembranaceus (Davey and Williams, 1966) Corradini, 1973

Now Spiniferites ramosus ssp. granomembranaceus. Originally Hystrichosphaera ramosa var. granomembranacea, subsequently Spiniferites ramosus var. granomembranaceus, thirdly (and now) Spiniferites ramosus ssp. granomembranaceus.
Harker and Sarjeant in Harker et al., 1990, retained this taxon as Spiniferites ramosus var. granomembranaceus. Lentin and Williams, 1993, followed Lentin and Williams, 1989, and retained it as Spiniferites ramosus ssp. granomembranaceus.

Holotype: Davey and Williams, 1966, pl.4, fig.4; Bujak et al., 1980, pl.4, figs.10-11
Age: Early Eocene

Original diagnosis: Davey and Williams, 1966, p. 37: Hystrichosphaera ramosa var. granomembranacea
A variety of H. ramosa (Ehrenberg) possessing a central body with a granular surface. Membranes well developed on plate boundaries particularly in cingular and polar regions.
Dimensions:
Holotype: diameter of central body 47 by 49 µm, length of processes up to 20 µm.
Range: diameter of central body 41.5-56 µm, length of processes up to 27 µm.

Affinities:
Davey and Williams, 1966, p. 38: Hystrichosphaera ramosa var. granomembranacea
This variety is similar to H. ramosa var. membranacea except that the surface of the central body is granular.
