Impletosphaeridium paucispinum
Impletosphaeridium paucispinum He Chengquan, 1991, p.143, pl.24, fig.2; text-fig.29. Holotype: He Chengquan, 1991, pl.24, fig.2; text-fig.29. Age: Paleocene.
Description from He Chengquan, 1991, translated by Suning Hou, 07-01-2019
Description: Oval body, length larger than width. Thin wall, the surface fine granular- wrinkled. With sparse processes (more than 20 ), small picker-shaped, solid or basally hollow, straight or strongly curved, basally and distally expanded, distally mostly bifurcated, branches straight or bent backwards (length 5μm). Archeopyle not visible. Body length 57μm, width 42μm; Processes length 15-20μm, middle 1-2.5μm.
Discussion: Although there are not so many processes on this type of specimen, its distribution regulation is unknown and lacks the archeopyle, which makes it difficult to be classified into Surculosphaeridium or Cleistosphaeridium. It is similar to Impletosphaeridium transfodum, but the latter’s process width is unequal in projection (tapering from base to distal) most have small perforations.
Location and stratigraphy: Wucqia County Basebulak; Qimugen fm.
