Neuffenia willei Brenner & Durr 1986 lanterna subsp. nov.
Diagnosis. A punctate subspecies of Neuf~enia willei. Diagnosis otherwise as for the species.
Description: This subspecies has a distinct pitted (punctate) surface, giving the cyst an appearance like a pumpkin-lantern. The size of the pits is about 1 µm, varying in numbers from about 10 to 50.
Dimensions. 7 specimens measured. Holotype: length 56 µm, width 56 µm. Overall cyst length (minimum-mean-maximum): 48 µm - 55 µm - 60 µm. Overall cyst width (minimum-mean-maximum): 44 µm - 54 µm - 57 µm.
Recorded occurrences.
Danish Subbasin: Latest Oxfordian? (or younger) in the Hyllebjerg-l borehole (6230-40 ft.) (Note that it is found in a ditch cuttings and it may be caved).
Poland: Volgian of the Blogie-Nadzieja borehole (22-38 m) and Kimmeridgian of the Szadkowice borehole (13 m).
