Locus typicus: Gippsland Basin, Southeastern Australia
Stratum typicum: Late Cretaceous

Description. Marshall 1989, p. 51
Cysts tubiform, elongate, widest near mid-length, tapering towards poles. Antapex narrowly to broadly rounded, apex truncated. Wall 0.4-1.0 µm thick near mid-length of cyst, thins slightly towards antapex; surface evenly scabrate-finely granulate: grana less than 0.4 µm in maximum dimension. Aperture defined by an opening at apex; outline uniformly curved; cyst wall often thickened slightly around rim. No operculum observed.

Size. Cyst length 201(239)278 µm, width 44(58)71Ám; 9 specimens measured.

Comparison. This form differs from Wuroia corrugata in having a thicker, less distorted cyst wall with a sculptured surface. The opening at one end of W. tubiformis sp. nov. also has a thickened rim defining a more regular outline.
