Phthanoperidinium? pseudoechinatum Bujak in Bujak et al. 1980

Bujak in Bujak et al., 1980 questionably included this species in Phthanoperidinium.
Taxonomic senior synonym: Peridinium (now Phthanoperidinium) stockmansii, by implication in Islam (1982, p.309), who considered Phthanoperidinium? pseudoechinatum to be a taxonomic junior synonym of Phthanoperidinium echinatum, which is now a taxonomic junior synonym of Peridinium (now Phthanoperidinium) stockmansii.
1982.

Holotype: Bujak in Bujak et al. 1980, pl.19, fig. 20
Locus typicus: Barton, Hamshire, southern England
Age: middle Eocene (see Aubry, 1986).

Original diagnosis: Bujak in Bujak et al., 1980
Pericyst ovoidal with one short, solid apical horn and one or two unequal antapical horns; one or both are often strongly reduced. The endocyst is rarely visible. The periphragm is laevigate to chagrinate, with low crests delimiting a paratabulation of 4", 3a, 7", xc, 5""", 2"""". A row of unconnected, short, distally spherical spines is located along both sides of each parasutural crest. Archaeopyle formation involves a variable number of paraplates, with 2a and 4" always being lost and maximum development involving paraplates la-3a and 3"-5". The operculum separates into individual paraplates. Archaeopyle formula I + P to 31 + 3P (2a + 4" to I a-3a + 3-5"). Dimensions. Pericyst length = 30-45 µm, breadth = 26-36 µm. Maximum spine length = 1-3 µm.
