Cordosphaeridium taiwanianum
Cordosphaeridium taiwanianum Shaw Chenglong, 1999b, p.168, figs.16-19. Holotype: Shaw Chenglong, 1999b, figs.16-17. Age: Eocene.
Description: cyst spherical to subspherical, 57-68 μm wide, surface view rough pattern; surface features with cylindrical processes, processes up to 18 μm long; precingular archeopyle, indistinct. Startigraphic occurrence: Eocene (OK-3 well, 1750; OK-2 well, 1936m). Derivation of name: The specific epithet, taiwanianum is derived from the name of the type locality. Dimensions: Holotype – overall diameter 76 μm, diameter 58 μm, surface features with cylindrical processes, the cilindrical about 18 μm long. Dimensions: Overall diameter 72-83 μm, diameter 54-72 μm, maximum length of processes 20 μm (n=3). Remarks: The species differs from Cordosphaeridium cordium Shaw sp. nov. in being substantially larger cyst body and in having cylindrical processes surface features.
