NOW Sophismatia conopia. Originally Wetzeliella articulata var. conopia, subsequently Wetzeliella articulata subsp. conopia, thirdly Kisselevia tenuivirgula subsp. conopia, fourthly Charlesdowniea tenuivirgula subsp. conopia, fifthly (and now) Sophismatia conopia.
Holotype: Williams and Downie, 1966b, pl.18, fig.5.
Locus typicus: Sheppey, Kent, England
Age: Early Eocene.

Original diagnosis: Williams and Downie, 1966, p.184: Wezteliella (W.) articulata var. conopia
A variety of W. (W.) articulata having processes that distally may give rise to long aculei, often interconnected with aculei of adjacent processes. This is an intermediate form to W. (W.) leptavirgula.
Dimensions: Holotype: outer shell length 132 Ám, breadth 126 Ám. Capsule length 88 Ám. Observed range: outer shell, length 120-156 Ám. Capsule, length 88-105 Ám, breadth 83-92 Ám.
