Original description: [Herngreen et al., 2000]:

Limbodinium ridingii new species {PI. a, 3-5)
Holotype: Well F03-03, 2099.5 m, Pl. 8, fig.3,4.
Type stratum: Kimmeridge Clay Formation.
Etymology: After dr J.B, Riding, British Geological Survey, in recognition of his merits in Jurassic dinocyst biostratigraphy.
Description: This species is similar to Linhodinium absidatum (Drugg 1978) Riding 1987; however, the posterior paracingular flange is distally smooth, parasutural ridges are smooth and the antapical paraplate has low ridges and bears no denticles.
Dimensions: Holotype: width 75 pm; paratype: width 74 μm; range: 60-70 μm (5 other specimens measured). Width of paracingular flange 3-6 μm, width and heigth of claustra 4-6 x 3-4.5 μm (5 specimens measured).
Discussion: This species differs from Limbodinium absìdafum by the absence of denticulations.
Stratigraphic range: This study, well F03-03: 2099.5-2022 Early Kimmerid gian, cymodoce Zone.
