Operculodinium bellulum
Operculodinium bellulum Islam, 1983
Holotype: Islam, 1983, pl.2, fig.6
Locus typicus: Isle of Sheppey, SE England
Stratum typicum: Early Eocene
Original diagnosis: Islam, 1983, p.241
The cyst is ellipsoidal to subsphaerical, skolochorate and biphragmal; the endophragm is reticulate and the periphragm is psilate to faintly chagrinate; possesses numerous nontabular processes which are a quarter or under mean cyst diameter in length, hollow, little broader at bases, distally acuminate or aculeate closed at both ends; the archeopyle is precingular type P.
Dimensions: Holotype: cyst body 30 X 26 Ám length of processes 6-7 Ám. Rangc: cyst length 34(31)29 Ám, breadth 31(28)26 Ám, length of procerses 5-9 Ám - Specimens measured 10.
Affinities:
Islam, 1983, p.241: It differs from other species of the genus particularly from O. centrocarpum (Deflandre and Cookson) in general morphology and smaller size.
