Operculodinium bergmannii (Archangelsky, 1969) Stover and Evitt, 1978

NOW Lingulodinium. Originally Cleistosphaeridium, subsequently Operculodinium, thirdly Downiesphaeridium, fourthly (and now) Lingulodinium.
Taxonomic junior synonyms: Solisphaeridium filamentosum and Impletosphaeridium charrieri, both according to Quattrocchio and Sarjeant (2003, p.142). Masure in Fauconnier and Masure (2004, p.197) proposed the retention of this species in Operculodinium but were not aware of the work of Quattrocchio and Sarjeant (2003).

Original description: Archangelsky, 1969, p.414: Cleistsphaeridium bergmannii
Subsphaerical to oval cyst, with thick, granulate membrane (3 Ám) and circular archaeopyle. Processes robust, solid, numerous (>50), proximaly widened, straight or curved, pointed or occasionally with thickened ends.
Dimensions: Length of body 40 Ám (inclusive archeopyle); breadth 42 Ám, archaeopyle 24 Ám, processes 8 Ám. Range - length of body 27-58 Ám, archaeopyle 18-25 Ám, processes 6-10 Ám.
