Original description (Shaw Chenglong, 1999b)
Spherical to subspherical cyst, diameter 39-41 µm. Thickness of autophragm exclusive of ornamentation 2 µm. Surface ornamented with extravermiculae; lateral view ornamented with coniculae. Paracingulum and parasulcus not generally indicated. Archeopyle precingular type, medium size, elongate; operculum free.
Stratigraphic occurence: Eocene (OK-2 well, 1916m).
Derivation of name: The specific epithet, taiwanianum is derived from the name of the type locality.
Remarks: This species differs from the type species O. romanum Damassa in having extravermiculate ornament of the cyst and in having smaller size.
