Palaecysta foveoreticulata subsp. madagascarensis
Palaecysta foveoreticulata subsp. madagascarensis Chen, 2013, p.291–292, pl.8, figs.82–87; text-fig.9, nos. 6,10.32.
Holotype: Chen, 2013, pl.8, fig.83.
Age: Berriasian.
Original description (Chen, 2013):
Palaecysta foveoreticulata subsp. madagascarensis subsp. nov
Madagascar, in honor of the name of the country where the well was drilled.
Holotype. Plate 8, Figure 83, Slide 1238-41, J21
Paratypes. Plate 8, Figure 82, Slide 1238-41, N44; Plate 8, Figure 85, Slide 1268-71, R38; Plate 8, Figure 86, Slide 1220-23, M22.
Other specimens. Plate 8, Figures 83, 84, 87.
Diagnosis: This subspecies is characterised by long comb-shaped, arcuate process clusters in the pre- and post-cingular series (Figure 9, drawing 6; Figure 10, drawing 32).
Dimensions (based on measurements from 50 specimens):
Holotype – Whole specimen 145 µm; central body 85 µm; process length 50 µm
Range – Whole specimen 130 (140) 150 µm; central body 78 (85) 91 µm; process length 38 (45) 51 µm
Remarks: This subspecies differs from the P. pectita and P. pectita subsp. merinai in having much longer spinous processes and the overall thinner membrane, which supports the process clusters.
Occurrences in the Ankamotra-1 well. This subspecies occurred more commonly in Zones 2 and 3 (Berriasian).
Holotype: Chen, 2013, pl.8, fig.83.
Age: Berriasian.
