Palaecysta melakyensis

Palaecysta melakyensis Chen, 2013, p.292, pl.13, figs.148–151; text-figs.9, no.13, text-fig.10, no.39.

Holotype: Chen, 2013, pl.13, fig.148.
Age: late Tithonian–early Berriasian.

Original description (Chen, 2013):
Palaecysta melakyensis sp. nov.
the melaky, in honour of the name of the region where Ankamotra-1 well was drilled.
Holotype. Plate 13, Figure 148, Slide 1286-95, Q57.
Paratype. Plate 13, Figure 151, Slide 1286-95/2, O64.
Other specimens. Plate 13, Figures 149, 150.

Diagnosis: The short finger-like branches of the membranous process clusters in the pre- and postcingular series, with three to four short “fingers” (Figure 9, drawing 13; Figure 10, drawing 39) are the main characteristic of this species.

Dimensions (based on measurements from 15 specimens):
Holotype – Whole specimen 89 µm; central body 65 µm; process length 20 µm
Range – Whole specimen 86 (95) 100 µm; central body 65 (75) 85 µm; process length 13 (17) 20 µm

Remarks: This species differs from P. integra, P. integra subsp. digitata and P. integra subsp. mahajangaensis in having shorter process clusters and in having finger-like branching pattern.
Occurrences in the Ankamotra-1 well. P. melakyensis occurred in low abundance in Zones 4 and 5 (Late Tithonian to early Berriasian).
