Palaecysta palmula subsp. ankamotraensis

Palaecysta palmula subsp. ankamotraensis Chen, 2013, p.293, pl.2, figs.22–26; text-fig.7, text-fig.9, nos.9–10, text-fig.10, no.35 ex Williams and Fensome, 2016, 141.

The name was not validly published in Chen (2013, p.293), since the combination Palaecysta palmula was not validly published.

Holotype: Chen, 2013, pl.2, fig.23.
Age: late Tithonian.

Originals description (Chen, 2013):
Palaecysta palmula subsp. ankamotraensis subsp. nov.
ankamotra, in honour of the name of the well from which samples were studied.
Holotype. Plate 2, Figure 23, Slide 1286-95, E35.
Paratype. Plate 2, Figure 26, Slide 1304-07, R40.
Other specimens. Plate 2, Figures 21, 22; Figures 24, 25.

Diagnosis: This subspecies is characterized by three series of branching on its arcuate process clusters; 3-4 offshoots resulted from primary branching from each process cluster, 2-3 offshoots resulted from secondary branching from each of the primary offshoots, 1-3 offshoots resulted from each of the secondary offshoots (Figure 7; Figure 9, drawings 9, 10; Figure 10, drawing 35; Figure 11, drawing 68).

Dimensions (based on measurements from 50 specimens):
Holotype – Whole specimen 100 µm; central body 81 µm; process length 33 µm
Range – Whole specimen 85 (95) 100 µm; central body 70 (75) 81 µm; process length 28 (35) 40 µm

Remarks: This subspecies differs from P. palmula in having shorter process clusters and shallower-wedge branching pattern.
Occurrences in the Ankamotra-1 well. P. palmula subsp. ankamotraensis occurred in low abundance in Zone 5 (Late Tithonian).
