Operculodinium punctatum
Operculodinium? punctatum Cookson and Eisenack, 1971
Cookson and Eisenack, 1971, questionably included this species in Operculodinium.
Stover and Evitt, 1978, considered this to be a problematical species of Operculodinium.
A. Partridge, after studying the holotype and type material (pers. comm. to J. Jansonius in Lentin and Williams, 1985) stated that this species is an acritarch.
Holotype: Cookson and Eisenack, 1971, pl.9, fig.6
Locus typicus: Eucla basin, W. Australia
Stratum typicum: Albian-Cenomanian
Original diagnosis: Cookson and EIsenack, 1971, p.220
Shell spherical, closely covered with minute tubercles the bases of which are distinctly circular in outline. An archeopyle has not been observed.
Dimensions: Holotype, diameter c. 48 Ám, height of tubercles less than 1 Ám.
