Operculodinium? rarispinosum Cookson and Eisenack, 1971

Cookson and Eisenack, 1971, questionably included this species in Operculodinium.
A. Partridge (pers. comm. to J. Jansonius in Lentin and Williams, 1985) stated that the holotype of this species is an acritarch.

Original diagnosis: Cookson and Eisenack, 1971, p.220-221
Shell spherical, rather thickwalled, covered with somewhat sparsely distributed short, bluntly-pointed, solid spines. An archeopyle has not been observed.
Dimensions: Holotype, overall diameter c. 59 Ám, diameter of shell c. 55 Ám, length of spines c. 1-1.5 Ám. Range, diameter of shell c. 32-55 Ám, spines c. 1-2 Ám long.
