Operculodinium solarum
Operculodinium solarum Drugg, 1970
Now Lingulodinium. Originally Operculodinium, subsequently (and now) Lingulodinium.
Holotype: Drugg, 1970, fig.16A-C
Locus typicus: Hinds County, Mississippi, U.S.A.
Stratum typicum: Oligocene
Original description: Drugg, 1970, p. 819-820
Spherical chorate cyst with numerous processes and a precingular archeopyle. Tract wall about 1Ám thick. Endophragm seemingly structureless, periphragm finely granulate. The processes are broadly conical, closed proximally and distally, walls thin and finely granulate. The interior area at the base of the processes is more coarsely granulate than the other areas of the tract. Processes are from 14 to 20 Ám long and the basal diameter ranges from about 3 to 10 Ám. The body diameter ranges from 58 to 75.
