Piladinium edwardsii
Piladinium edwardsii (Wilson, 1967c, p.477, figs.8–9) Williams et al., 2015, p.309.
Holotype: Wilson, 1967c, fig.8.
Originally Wetzeliella, subsequently Kisselevia, thirdly Charlesdowniea, fourthly (and now) Piladinium.
Age: early Eocene.
Original description: Wilson, 1967, p.477: Wetzeliella edwardsi
Periphragm outline rhomboidal with well developed horns at each angle. Single antapical horn usually displaced slightly to right of mid-ventral line; occasionally a very small bulge present indicating a left antapical horn. Ornament on periphragm restricted to margin, comprises processes (l=3-11 µm) Iinked distally by a membrane or filament. The largest processes occur midway between horns. Margin between horns concave. Archeopyle subrounded to nearly oval; operculum often located within capsule or within archeopyle. Capsule outline usually circular. No indication of tabulation. Transverse girdle indicated by distal notches on lateral horns.
Dimensions: Holotype: I = 96 µm, h = 107 µm, capsule 50 µm X 58 µm, apical horn 16 µm, antapical horn 19 µm, lateral horns 19 µm. Range (6 specimens): l=96(104) 121 µm, h=94(108)116 µm, capsule (l) 61 µm X 61 µm ap. h. 14(17)19 µm, ant. h. 16(19)22 µm, lat. h. 14(17)19 µm.
