Original description (Shaw Chenglong, 1999b)
Outer cyst sub-quadragonal in droso-ventral view, 39 µm long, 46 µm wide. Outer cyst membrane thin; ornamented with short rodlike, clublike, spinelike or grapple-like appendages. Apical horn weakly developed and antapical horn indistinct. innercyst indistinct. Archeopyle intercalary type, operculum free or attached. Dimensions holotype: overall 39 µm, 46 µm wide.
Derivation of name: The specific epithet taiwanianum is derived from the name of the type locality. Stratigraphic occurence: Eocene (OK-1 well, 1788m).
