Stelladinium abei subsp. elegans He Chengquan and Sun Xuekun, 1991, p.294–295, pl.3, fig.17.
Holotype: He Chengquan and Sun Xuekun, 1991, pl.3, fig.17.
Age: Quaternary.

Original description (He Chengquan and Sun Xuekun, 1991)
Cyst peridinioid, compressed dorsoventrally, elongate pentagonal in outline with slightly concave margin. Epicyst slightly shorter than hypocyst, conical and a tapering apical horn. Hypocyst nearly trapezoidal, with two conical antapical horns of approximately equal size; horns strongly divergent, but their bases are wide and adjacent to each other. Distal extremities of apical and antapical horns are baculate (6.6 µm long), solid, acuminate or blunt. Paracingulum indicated by strongly angular equatorial projection, but lacking any processes. Parasulcus faint. Autophragm brown in color with nearly smooth surface. Archeopyle intercalary, with length greater than breadth, its posterior margin near paracingulum. Operculum adhered to the lateral margin of archeopyle.
Dimensions: Holotype of subspecies 60 µm long, 35.7 µm wide, apical horn about 13 µm, antapical horns 11 µm and 15 µm long respectively.
Comparison: This new subspecies differs from Stelladinium abei Matsuoka 1985 in having quite long apical and antapical horns with solid and baculate extremities.
