Thalassiphora elongata
From Fensome et al., 2019:
Thalassiphora elongata Vasilyeva in Vasilyeva et al., 2001, p.67–68, pl.1, figs.1–2,6 ex Vasilyeva in Andreeva-Grigorovich et al., 2011, p.31–32, pl.4, figs.1–8.
Holotype: Andreeva-Grigorovich et al., 2011, pl.4, figs.1–5.
This species was not validly published in Vasilyeva et al. (2001), since no English or Latin diagnosis was provided. We provisionally interpret the five images listed as the holotype to represent a single specimen that has been manipulated; if it is found that they represent more than one specimen, the name Thalassiphora elongata would remain to be validated.
Age: Late Eocene–Early Oligocene.

Original description: [Vasilyeva in Vasilyeva et al., 2001, ex Vasilyeva in Andreeva-Grigorovich et al., 2011] (translated from Russian):
Thalassiphora elongata Vassilyeva sp. nov. - Tab. IV, 1-8
Name: From Latin elongates - elongated.
Diagnosis. Circumcavate dorso-ventral flattened cyst of large size. Pericyst wide elongated-oval guitar-shaped with short antapical projection. Endocyst round or oval. Perifragm thin, perforated, punctoreticulate to reticulate. Endophragm thin, granular. Periarcheopyle semicircular, horseshoe-shaped, precingular (type P; 3′′). Perioperculum free. Pericel wide.
Description. Circumcavated cyst, flattened in the dorsoventral direction. On the dorsal side it has an elongated-oval, guitar-shaped form. In the antapical part of the pericyst, a keel is developed. The endocyst is round to oval, occupies a central position, usually in the narrowed part of the pericyst; sometimes shifted to the capical pole. The periphragm is thin, perforated, porous, mesh-like; the size of the openings varies: in the area of the cingulum the periphragm is denser, finely perforated [?] cellular, becoming coarse-meshed and reticular towards the poles. The endophragm is thin and granular. The periphragm and endophragm probably touch on the dorsal side of the cyst. The pericoel is wide in the dorsoventral position. The periarcheopyle is precingular in position and semicircular in shape. The perioperculum is free. There is a large opening on the ventral surface of the cyst. Signs of paratabulation are unclear and are expressed by the archeopyle, as well as in the form of shallow folds of the periphragm.
Holotype. Tab. IV, 1-5. Prep. B-272/15, collection of the Institute of Geology and Geochemistry of the Ural Branch (IGIG URO) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Location. Belinsky quarry, sample 272/15, Chegan suite (Kostanay region, Rudny town).
Dimensions (μm). Holotype: pericyst length 180; pericyst width 138; the larger and smaller (in the equatorial zone) diameters of the endocyst are 90 and 83, respectively; keel height 10; pericyst width in the cingulum region 100. Other specimens (8 specimens): pericyst length 150-185; pericyst width 125-140; the larger and smaller diameters of the endocyst are 80-92 and 62-85, respectively; keel height - 8-15.
Variability. The shape of the pericyst varies from round-rectangular to guitar-shaped.
Comparison. In terms of the structure of the periphragm, this species is comparable to Thalassiphora pelagica (Eisenack, 1954) Eisenack et Gocht, 1960, but differs in the shape of the pericyst and the differentiated location of the perforation on the periphragm.
Distribution. Kazakhstan, Southern Trans-Urals, Kurgan region, northern part of the Turgai trough, Tavda and Chegan suites, Kurgan layers. Upper Eocene, Lower Oligocene.
