Vesperopsis sanjiangensis
Vesperopsis sanjiangensis Wan Chuanbiao and Qiao Xiuyun, 1994, p.504,507, pl.1, figs.1,4; pl.2, fig.9. Emendation: Mao Shaozhi et al., 1999, p.151.
Holotype: Wan Chuanbiao and Qiao Xiuyun, 1994, pl.2, fig.9.
Age: Middle-late Early Cretaceous.
Emended diagnosis (Mao Shaozhi et al., 1999):
Vesperopsis sanjiangensis Wan & Qiau 1994, emend. nov. (Pl. I, Fig. 7)
Emended description: Intermediate to large cysts, weakly compressed dorsoventrally, with one apical, one antapical, one postcingular and two precingular horns. The left precingular horn is usually longer than the right one and both horns are long and extend posteriorly over the cingulum as if they were two postcinular horns. The cingulum may be indicated by low ridges or densely disposed ornaments. Wall surfaces ornamented with granules and short solid processes, long as 2-3 µm, capitate or bifurcate distally.
Comparison: the species differs from other species of the genus in having short capitate or bifuracte processes on wall surface. This species is similar in shape to Nyktericysta puyangensis Wan & Qiau 1994, but the latter species is cornucavate and its surface ornamented with dense granules, some of which may connect each other to form short ruga.
Location and horizon: Puyang district of the Sanjiang Basn, the Chengzihe Formation, Hauterivian to Barremian.
