Alterbidinium saltanovae
From Fensome et al., 2019:
Alterbidinium saltanovae, Vasilyeva in Andreeva-Grigorovich et al., 2011, p.46–47, pl.11, figs.25–28; text-fig.18g ex Williams and Fensome, 2016, p.139.
Holotype: Andreeva-Grigorovich et al., 2011, pl.11, figs.25–26; text-fig. 18g, designated by Williams and Fensome (2016, p.139).
This name was not validly published by Vasilyeva in Andreeva-Grigorovich et al. (2011, p.46–47) since the holotype citation (pl.11, figs.25–28 and text-fig.18g) includes more than one specimen. The holotype was clearly designated in Williams and Fensome (2016), thus validating the name Alterbidinium saltanovae.
Age: Danian–Selandian.

Original description: [Vasilyeva in Andreeva-Grigorovich et al., 2011] (translated from Russian with Google):
Alterbidinium saltanovae Vassilyeva sp. nov.
Name. By location - s. Saltanovo, Sverdlovsk region, Russia.
Diagnosis. Peridinioid circumcavate rounded-oval cyst of intermediate to large size. Left antapical horn well developed, right horn reduced. Endocyst large, rounded-pentagonal, oviform, and extends the most part of cyst. Periphragm thin, smooth, transparent. Endophragm dense, thick, coarse granular. Periarcheopyle round hexagonal, intercalary. Perioperculum attached. Parasulcus marked by wide folds.
Description: Pericyst is round-oval, slightly pentagonal in shape. The epicyst is slightly longer than or equal to the hypocyst. The epicyst has convex sides and barely noticeable bends called "shoulders". The apical horn is slightly drawn out, rounded, with a short spine at the apex. The hypocyst has slightly concave lateral sides, tapering significantly toward the antapical horns. The left antapical horn is well developed, usually drawn out and pointed. The right antapical horn is significantly reduced and rounded. The periphragm is thin, dense, transparent, light, and fine-grained. The endocyst is large, rounded-oval, ovoid; it occupies almost the entire space of the cyst. The endophragm is dense, thick, unevenly coarse-grained, darker and rougher than the periphragm. Inclusions of organic material in the form of rounded spots are observed on the surface of the endophragm; Large grains are concentrated at the poles. Pericoel distinct, narrow. Epicoel and hypocoel slightly widened. Paracingulum slightly protrudes on the lateral sides of the cyst as a weakly sagging wide groove; sometimes indicated by a thin parasutural suture. Parasulcus expressed as a wide fold on the ventral side of the cyst. Periarchaeopile of intercalary or combined intercalary-precingular type. Perioperculum attached. Periarchaeopile usually includes plates Ia (2a), rounded-hexagonal in shape, slightly elongated. Paratabulation expressed by the shapes of periarchaeopile, paracingulum, parasulcus.
Location. Saltanovo outcrop, Lyalya River, Talitskaya suite (Sverdlovsk region, Serovsky district, Saltanovo village).
Dimensions (µm). Holotype: pericyst length 73; pericyst width 51; endocyst length 46; endocyst width 45. Other specimens (2 specimens): pericyst length 79.0-70.2; pericyst width 56-47; endocyst length 47-45; endocyst width 46-45.
Comparison. Alterbidinium saltanovae has features similar to the species Alterbidinium circulum (Heilmann-Clausen, 1985) Lentin et Williams, 1986, but differs in the proportions of the pericyst and endocyst: the latter species has an endocyst of a smaller diameter and a comparatively wider pericoel.
Distribution. Russia, Middle Trans-Urals, Ivdel, Talitskaya suites (Upper Talitskaya subsuite). Paleocene (Danian-Zealandian).
