Occurrence: throughout subunit 1/5 (198.70-195.61 mcd) of the ACEX record until samples get palynologically barren.
Age: ?early Miocene.

Original description: [Sangiorgi et al., 2009]:

Diagnosis:
a species of Arcticacysta with a wall ornamented with short slender solid (less than 2µm long), thin (about 0.3µm) spines, closely spaced and equally distributed on the cyst wall (Plate 3, Figs. 3-4; Plate 4, Fig. 10).
The archeopyle, when developed, is of type 4A3I (Plate 3, Figs. 3-5; Plate 4, Figs. 1-4, 7-9), resulting from the loss of four apical (1’-4’) and three intercalaries (1a-3a). Rarely specimens are not deformed; occasionally specimens are complete without any visible archeopyle (Plate 4, Figs., 10, 12).

Remarks:
spines are mostly broad-based, with acuminate tips, evenly long and equally distributed. Rarely, they appear more densely and randomly distributed, some of which have slightly widened apices (Plate 3, Fig. 5). However, due to preservation issues, the features on the surface wall can almost totally disappear as well as the morphology of the spines can be affected. The cyst becomes scabrate, only showing the position where the spines were present (Plate 3, Fig. 6).
