Originally Xiphophoridium, subsequently (and now) Dinopterygium.

The oval, antapically slightly pointed central body is covered with numerous, daggerlike, solitary, intratabular processes. This species possesses a paracingulum, an apical archeopyle and a paratabulation which cannot be reconstructed exactly. Only the existence of 3 apical paraplates is certain.

The paratabulation is characterized by parasutural processes arranged in a row and connected proximally by ridges. There are 4-6 solitary intratabular processes, surrounded by intratabular processes on each plate. The processes are flattened, gradually tapering distally, with truncate or rounded tips. The height of the parasutural ridges connecting these intertabular processes varies between 3 and 9 µm in a 60 µm wide specimen. The paracingulum lacks spines and is bounded by denticulate ridges.
