Kallosphaeridium retirugosum
Kallosphaeridium retirugosum (He Chengquan, 1991, p.56, pl.8, fig.11) He Chengquan et al., 2009, p.164.
Originally Canningia; subsequently (and now) Kallosphaeridium.
Holotype: He Chengquan, 1991, pl.8, fig.11.
Age: Late Cretaceous.
Description by He Chengquan, 1991, translated by Suning Hou, 07-01-2019
Description: Cyst is nearly circular, width slightly larger than length. Apical horn tiny display, the antapex circle, antapical horns lack. Cingulum fuzzy, width 6μm, the edge is characterized by the fine ridge, the ridge is long but not continuous enough. Thin cyst wall, the surface covered with short wrinkled ornamentation; wrinkles straight or curved, thin but high, outline serrated, they are interconnected to form an incomplete fine mesh. Archeopyle obvious, apical, (tA) type, the edge clearly angular. Operculum separated, in-situ preserved. Holotype length 55μm, width 62.5μm, wrinkle length 1-2 μm.
Comparison: with Canningia rotundata, The new species is distinguished from Canningia rotundata by the small individual , thin wall, clear wrinkle, the interconnected incomplete net, and the fuzzy cingulum. The latter apical horn is more obvious, or has a antapical horn and a thicker wall. The new species differs from C. reticulata, C. rugulosa (Clarke et Verdier) with its lack of apical horn and tiny antapical horn.
Location and stratigraphy: Ulugquat County west Basebulak; bottom wuyitake fm.
